Who is Suni Escobar?
34 y/o single mother of 3, 2 dogs, 2 turtles and a cat. Oh, and sometimes a step-mother to a stray cat we call Daquan. Growing up in NYC but quite honestly I believe I should be living on the West Coast. I love heat, summer all year round, and the sometimes lax life there.
1. What do you do? What is your field?
I am currently an administrative assistant for the investigations department of a non-profit organization that services the developmental disabled. I also teach CPR and everything else they didn’t tell me when I was hired. LOL.
2. Are you self employed? If not what company do you work for?
My dream is to be self-employed in a successful company.
3. What do you feel is your biggest professional achievement?
My biggest professional achievement would have to be working my way up to where I am now. I started as a per diem teacher assistant and now I am aiding in investigations.
4. Who do you help with your products or services?
The company I work for helps the developmental disabled.
5. Where do you see yourself next year?
I see myself in my own home, probably with another dog (another chihuahua) continuing to move up in my company. I hope to start my own company teaching CPR.
6. What motivates you?
My children. Goals. Life. I know that someday I am not going to walk the face of this earth anymore so my goal is to accomplish as much as I can.
7. What is something you learned from being in your field that they didn’t tell you in school?
The world is a cruel place. The non-profit organization I work for provides services to people with Autism, individuals with HIV, foster care, and developmental disabilities. Working with them has showed me that because they have a certain disability it doesn’t stop them from doing what they need to accomplish. They have to work extra hard and I truly think that is beautiful. In school they can’t teach you experience but working in my field has taught me this. I’ve learned to be more compassionate, more patient and open minded.
8. Who do you look up to and why?
I wouldn’t say look up to but I admire this person. My co-worker “Daphne” who is a man but dresses up like a woman, day to day. I remember when he and I would go to Shecky events and pick out clothes for him to wear. We would go to Sephora and find make-up that looks good on him. I admire him because he has been strong through all the criticism he has received , whether its from people on the street or random snickers I hear at work when he passes by. Through it all he keeps his head up and he struts his stuff!
9. What’s the most annoying thing you see on social media?
Oh gosh, I can only pick one? LOL. I find people who post status messages like “I can’t believe what just happened” and then don’t post what happened, annoying. Jeez just say it. I find when people post pictures of themselves in 10 different poses annoying.
10. Have you ever given in to a social media fad? If so which one?
I hate fads. However, I am guilty of one. It was the fad where you like my 80’s cartoon pic and then I send you an 80’s cartoon character and you have to post a photo of it.
11. What projects are you currently working on?
LOL. Can I call helping out with my boyfriend’s sister-in-law plan a baby shower a project? It sure feels like one. Oye. LOL.
12. How did you get where you are today?
Determination. I hate giving up and so I made a promise to myself to learn everything and anything. Some people look at it as extra work but I think of it as another thing to put on my resume.
13. Tell me something about you that people don’t usually know?
Gosh do I really have to say? LOL. I’m really not as sociable as people think I am. The idea of having to do my hair, make-up, finding an outfit, and heels that’ll last throughout the night without pinching my pinky toe is not fun. I’d rather be home, eating, and on my bed and watching smut reality tv. LOL.
14. Who do you consider social media famous?
Agh. It depends. It varies day to day. One minute a pigeon can be the “thing” and next a kid that says “I love turtles”. But right now it seems to be “butts”.LOL. Butts are social media famous.
